Crash Problem with PHP 4.4.5 Session Extension

Yesterday I updating PHP on RevTI server from PHP 4.4.4 version to PHP 4.4.5, the update run smoothly until a client complaining that his website show 500 Internal Server Error. My friend, Willy also complaint to me that his website having the same problem.

After investigating what exactly the problem is, I found out that PHP 4.4.5 is having problem with its session extension if register_globals is turned on. The bug will causing a “500 Internal Server Error” error message to be shown on PHP pages that using session and resulting a file named “core” with 33MB of size.

The PHP developers already released PHP 4.4.6 to addresses this problem and fix some minor bugs.
