Solving Verbatim Store ‘n’ Save 3TB External HDD Showing 2 Devices

I got a Verbatim Store ‘n’ Save 3TB USB 3.0 External HDD which showing 2 devices on my PC, one with a capacity of 2TB and one with a capacity of 746GB. This cause the HDD to have 2 drive letters and I have to split data into 2 devices which of course annoying.

On the document it’s mentioned that the HDD purposely divided into 2 devices to maintain compatibility with older operating system. Since this are 2 devices (not partitions) hence I can’t modify it thru Windows 7 Disk Management.

Searching on Verbatim European website didn’t give any driver or tools to merge the 2 devices into one. But luckily Verbatim Australia did put a tool to be downloaded, it’s called “3TB Partition Changer” which can be downloaded here: http://www.verbatim.com.au/en_AU/products/hard-drives/desktop/47673/3-5-store-n-save-desktop-hard-drive-usb-3-0-3tb/drivers/asset/8231

  3. Hi there, I didn’t have any problem with the hard drive but yesterday when I had used the hard drive it was working and all of a sudden it just went off, I checked the plug points and even unpluging the cord from the device and plugging it back on but still it just refuses to come on. I have alot of movies stored on it and some of it which I haven’t saved as yet so I am really worried now about all the data i have on it and it just refuses to come on, did anyone encounter this problem and how can I fix it?

    1. mine still work just fine. if it went off suddenly there could be several reasons, maybe the power adapter died or the hdd it self. try find another power adapter (that have same output of course) and see if your hdd works

  4. Hi, there! Greetings from Portugal!
Thanks for the tip, Markus, I will try it.
I have received my drive yesterday, still didn’t do much with it, but I am a bit concerned about the temperatures:
at 26ºC room temperature, both “HD Tune” and “Hard Disk Sentinel” are reporting 48ºC.
Yesterday, without even using it for reading/writing, temperatures got to 52ºC.
    How about your drive?
I have sent an email to Verbatim, but still have got no answer concerning this…

  5. Thanks a lot guys. Drove me crazy. Also works without any Problems with the 4 TB Version!
    You saved my day!
