Carnaval at Eindhoven (Bule Gila)

February 26th, 2006 | 5 Comments | Posted in Journey to Netherland

Today I’m going to Eindhoven with Linda and Ferdi to see the Carnaval. The carnaval is held once a year for 3 days.

All peoples goes crazy.. absolutely crazy! strange costume, wierd make up, singing, dancing, drinking beer until get drunk. Its very very crowded, it just like all peoples in Netherland go out to the streets. It was very fun.

Carnaval - All peoples goes crazy!

It was very cold, but some crazy guys only wear a short pants! but the ladies is more insane :-O they only wear miniskirt and stockings! as You can see on the picture above, the girl is not wearing a jacket. I was wearing a jeans and still can feel the cold weather, I think the have rhinoceros skins :))

We met with Andi and Lena at carnaval then We walk together.

Its getting dark and We feel hungry, so We get dinner at Kam Po restourant - It seems this restourant is Linda and Lena’s favourite :D - again. This is the 3rd time I eat in this restourant.

Even after the night comes, peoples still coming to the centrum wearing strange costume. They go to the cafes that play loud music and dance like crazy. When things get crazy You should be aware because alot of people get drunk and You don’t want get into trouble with drunken crazy people.

Now I see the real ‘Bule Gila’ :D

Dinner with Notenboom Family

February 24th, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in Journey to Netherland

Yesterday night, Johan and Debbie ask Me and Ferdy to come to Their home and have dinner together. Johan’s house is about 15 minutes from QnAp office. His house is not too big - typical house in Netherland, because land and building in Netherland is very - very expensive :-O with the same amount of money to buy a small house here in Netherland, You can buy a house as big as a football court in Indonesia! :-O - but its a nice house :)

Johan can cook also hehe :D He cook rice for Me and Ferdi. See below :p We had a delicious dinner.

Cooking with Johan

After dinner We watch videos, Johan’s family videos. He record when He and His family go to Paris and Bali, really nice. From this Me and Ferdi knows that Johan love His family very very much.. and someday I’ll experience the same thing.. :D but it still long long.. time.. :D

Mr. Johan ‘Nice Guy’ Notenboom also give Me and Ferdi a gift - He is playing his role as Santa ‘Johan’ Clauss :)) - A very nice blue sweater for Me and brown sweater for Ferdi. Dank U Well Johan.

Internet is Dead

February 23rd, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Daily Blog, Journey to Netherland

The Internet was dead this morning and all people in the office wondering why.. why.. whhhyyyyy….??? Last night the Internet still working fine, I was writing My blog at 24.00. I guess there is some problem with the DNS server but when I try to type My server’s IP I still can’t connect :((

Then Johan found a solution, He use QnAp server as the DNS server and He can connect again to the Internet. He is quite surprising as a manager :-O because He knows technical stuff like IP settings :)) I’m glad He didn’t ask Me to make resume of why the Internet is dead :p

Because Johan can access the Internet now, He check the ISP website and found that They do a maintenance last night. So thats the reason why the Internet is dead.

We had a teleconference with Ki in Indonesia at 10.00 and after the teleconference finished - its about 40 minutes or so - Frank found that the Internet works again without needing to manually configure the DNS server. Yes.. We are back online! :D

Hightech Campus

February 23rd, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Journey to Netherland

This afternoon I go to Hightech Campus with Johan, We are visiting Rob this time. Johan had a meeting with Rob just the same with Patrick Bonne last time.

About Hightech Campus, may be You’ll think that it is a school or an university but its not :D Hightech Campus is a complex where PHILIPS office operated, PHILIPS also do research in Hightech Campus. The complex it self is very big and consist of several building, they even still build more building :-O

Hightech Campus is in another location with PHILIPS office where Patrick Bonne works. As We know that PHILIPS is a big company but I never imagine that PHILIPS is very big! alot bigger than what I think. Their product is not only electronics or kitchen stuff like blender, microwave or coffee machine that We familiar with, but also semiconductor and medical systems.

Medical systems can be said as a new division of PHILIPS. Johan said that this division generate alot of money for PHILIPS. They making medical equipment that being used by hospital and may be other organisation that works in health care. Different with hospitals in Indonesia, Johan said that hospitals in Netherland is rich so they can buy a bleeding edge technology, that is why medical systems generate alot of money for PHILIPS.

In Hightech Campus there is also a restaurant, cafe, seminar room - or something like that, because I see a group of people attend on a room listening one speaker in front of them - and more, this facility can only be used by the employee of PHILIPS.

Rob is working for PHILIPS semiconductor, He works as Quality Assurance. Currently PHILIPS are making chips or IC - Integrated Circuit - or something like that :-/ Rob speak so fast and talk about hardware that I’m not fully understand :D He is a little bit busy right now, especially with the re-organisation in PHILIPS that causing many thing seems unclear for Him, for instance Quality Assurance standard that PHILIPS have now, there are 5 standards so as person that working on Quality Assurance He need to know 5 of them and know when to apply them #.-S

In the same building I also met with Peter van der Kamp, He also work for PHILIPS semiconductor but I belive different division with Rob. We only have a short chat as I and Johan need to go back to QnAp office.

Paris oh.. Paris..

February 22nd, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Journey to Netherland

Have a chat with Jose tonight, I’m asking Him how much it cost to buy train ticket to Paris and He said its better if I just book a tour to Paris instead of going there by My self.

He give Me Peter Langhout’s website. The price for 3 days tour in Paris is about 104 Euro for 1 person, it become cheaper for 2 person, about 89 Euro each person.

Well there are 2 minor problems:
1. Find a person who also want to go to Paris and pay 89 Euro for 3 days tour.
2. I need a permission from My Boss to take 3 days off. Okay.. its not a minor.. but major one :(

So.. who want to join Me?

He show Me several tourism places in Amsterdam, I took alot of pictures there. Amsterdam is a nice city, with alot of beautiful buildings and landscapes.

We then go to Jose’s place. I stay at His place for one night.

On sunday We go to the church, but We are too late.. may be because We got tired after walking around Amsterdam - just as an excuse of Our laziness :D

Then on the afternoon We play football with other Indonesian youth that study in Netherland. Well, I don’t like football so I can’t play it, just play for 10 minutes and then I switch My role to a good spectator :p

Below is a picture of Me and Jose in Amsterdam:

Amsterdam Tourist

February 20th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Journey to Netherland

Just came back from Amsterdam :D happy Me :)) Now.. this is My story:

My plan is leaving Eindhoven at 09:28 on 18 February 2006 and I ask Marc to take Me to the train station at 09:00. We arrived too early so I must wait for about 20 minutes and Marc leave Me because He want to go to the shop.

Ok, 09:25 the train arrived, I go inside the train sit down nice and…. something stupid happened! I forgot where I put My ticket! damn! I try to find it on My pants pockets, its not there.. I got panic.. I just grab My back pack and go out of the train, I don’t want to pay alot of fee if I got caught by the officials not bringing ticket and also to find My ticket, may be I drop it somewhere.

Searching… searching… no luck, I didn’t found My ticket :( I try to find it again on My pants pockets.. no its not there! slide My left hand to My left jacket pocket and guess what!? its there! damn! :D but the train already leave :((

Call Marc to meet Me at the train station just to accompy Me and asking Him wheter the ticket still valid, fortunetly yes! :)) so I’m just waiting the next train to come. Its about 20 minutes from the last train.

The train is coming. I sit on double floor - Marc’s suggestion, so I can get better view. Thanks :D - the journey time is about 1 hour and 46 minutes. Its a nice trip :) Just see the landscape its very beautiful :p

to be continued..
